Az-Zahra News Flash

Alhumdu lillah – All praise belongs to Allah (swt) for bestowing His kindness and mercy on all of us. We thank Him for the many blessings we receive each and every day. Az-Zahra community is truly blessed to have so many dedicated brothers and sisters who volunteer throughout the year to make this a vibrant and blessed place. We hope that Allah (swt) will continue to grant us success and help bond us as a strong community.

We thank all the brothers and sisters who participated in making the community picnic on July 26th a great success. This was a successful “mini fundraising” event. We collected $922 from this single activity. Although it is not a huge amount, it is, nevertheless a good step in the right direction. Insha’Allah, we hope to do even better on our next picnic.

Furthermore, we signed 3 new monthly pledges today. Their commitment will help pay for the maintenance and expenses of the center. Remember, this is our center and it is every one’s obligation to meet the monthly expenses of running the center. If each of us makes a monthly donation/pledge of at least $50 a month, we can do so much with these resources. If you are not able to pay that much, please pay whatever you can – even $10-$20 a month can be a substantial amount.

Finally, we also received a few pledges totaling over $2,200 for our newly approved Islamic Cemetery. This is good news and we should celebrate it. However, we are far from the goal of $22,500 needed to fulfill the cost to complete the project. One idea is to involve all the mu’mineen of our community by having them take ownership of the project. We ask you to pledge for only a small part of the project. For example, you could pay for a tree or a section of the fence on behalf of your departed family member. We will plant the tree or erect the fence on his/her name. This action will help honor your loved one and hopefully gain Allah (swt)’s pleasure. Please contact any of the board members if you are interested in contributing towards this project.
