Az-Zahra News: May 2008

By | May 11, 2008

Bismehe Ta’ala and Assalaamu ‘Alaikum to all. Hope everyone is doing well, Insha’All-h.This is the second newsletter of the year and we hope it is providing the information and news about our center and the community at large. First of all, please recite al-Fatiha for the deceased souls. Br. Ahmad Dia had recently lost both his parents in Lebanon. Br. Mansour Koleini lost his brother to cancer. May All-h (swt) give them a special place in Paradise and grant their loved ones patience and strength to bear the loss of their loved ones. Ameen.

We had a great show on the Family Pizza-Movie Night on April 26th. The pizzas were delicious and fresh out of our very own oven. Some of the children tested their culinary skills by choosing and decorating pizzas with their favorite toppings. Alhumdu lillah, we raised almost $300 from this event. This money will help pay our utility bills for May. We saw Alvin and the Chipmunks and the kids (and their parents too) had a blast. Thanks to everyone for helping put smiles on our faces. May All-h bless you.

With less than two weeks left in this school year, we plan to have activities that are fun for the entire family. Can you suggest some activities that are fun and wholesome for our community? Br. Murtuza Khani is excited to have one of his famous BBQ picnics soon. Watch out for details.

We are trying to sell some more pews to help make room in our center. Hopefully the money received from the sale will help with our expenses. Please call me if you know anyone interested in purchasing the pews as well as two organs and a piano.

Just a reminder about the importance of Taharat-Najasat at our center. Some of the little ones (especially boys) have not been using the stool correctly. As parents, we must remind our children to sit down when using the toilet. Please ask them to wipe the seat, wash their hands, and leave the slippers outside for others to use when they are done. This will keep the toilet area clean and tidy. Thanks.

Charity
A man who gives one piece of silver in his lifetime receives greater reward than when he gives one hundred when he is about to die. Prophet Mohammad (AS)

Insha’All-h, we plan on having several community related activities in summer. We also expect an increase in our utility bills. Please remember, it takes everyone’s help to operate our center and pay the bills. For those who pledged donations in our December Fundraising Dinner, we ask you to fulfill your pledge soon. If you want to make monthly automatic deposits, please contact me and I will be glad to help you with the process. Remember, even a small amount received consistently helps plan our expenses effectively. Jazakallah Khair

Points to Remember

  1. Enter a center or a masjid with your right foot and announce your presence by saying “Assalaamu ‘Alaikum”.
  2. Smile when you see a Muslim because it is one of the loftiest charities that pleases All-h (swt).
  3. A masjid is a house of All-h. Dress modestly and be respectful of others. All-h loves those who struggle in His way.
  4. Be gentle and kind to a child; teach him/her with compassion and love.

Please send your suggestions to Br. Jameel at mj_agha@yahoo.com
