A Time to be Thankful

There are countless reasons to be thankful to Allah (swt). We are grateful to Him for the many bounties we receive each and every day: good health; honest means of livelihood; our families and friends, etc. None of which is more important than having the gift of Islam. This gift also comes with enormous responsibilities. It requires every Muslim to be involved in the affairs of their community, to be a guardian and a support for each other, to care for one another’s well being, and to be steadfast in our religion among other things.

The Muslims in Kansas City realized the importance of fostering one community. It was with this intention that the community elected seven members to its first Board of Trustees in August 2004. The Board is grateful for this unique honor and a distinction of serving the community. Since the election, the Board has met on a monthly basis to address the many needs of our community. Its most predominant goal is, and will continue to be, to establish a community center. This is a daunting task. Insha’Allah, with God’s help and the support of our community, this challenge will be realized soon. We are thankful to all those who gave so generously towards this goal in the past and encourage others to do the same. Finally, the Board of Trustees is thankful to our community for placing their trust in them and it asks for your prayers to succeed.
